Ein Raum der Bräsentation

Media and Format

Residency project and interactive installation, featuring objects and audio from village residents.

Year

2023

Creative Process

During the residency, the artist engaged with residents, asking them to share items with historical family value. Audio recordings captured their stories, while further discussions revealed unique aspects of village life. The final exhibition space featured a symbolic “living room,” crafted from recycled white paper and ink to represent furniture outlines. Each object is accompanied by a QR code, allowing visitors to listen to personal stories as if invited into residents’ homes, experiencing the essence of Bräsen.

Dimensions / Scale

A white space arranged as a living room with furniture outlined in a 2D style, featuring villagers' historical objects as the only three-dimensional elements.

Exhibition History

Presented in 2023 as part of the UN Lab - Bräsen residency, hosted by United Network, APAL, and Bräsen für alle.

"Ein Raum der Bräsentation" was created during an artist residency in the village of Bräsen, Saxony-Anhalt. The project invited residents to bring family heirlooms with personal stories, sharing their history and significance. These objects, along with recorded narratives, became the centerpiece of an exhibition that allows visitors to step into a collective "living room" of Bräsen, reflecting the village’s culture and heritage. The installation is organized into three themes — Verbundenheit (Connection), Das Erbe (Heritage), and Ich bleibe hier (I Stay Here) — each capturing the residents’ sense of belonging, legacy, and commitment to their home.
