About Po-fu
Po-Fu Wu (吳柏甫), an accomplished Taiwanese performer and educator, graduated with an M.F.A. in Theatre from the National Taipei University of Arts . Since beginning a career in 2004, Po-Fu has cultivated a deep foundation in theatre training across classical, contemporary, and experimental styles. Recognized for a versatile theatrical presence, Po-Fu has extensive performance experience across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Mainland China, working closely with eminent directors and engaging in various artist residencies. These formative years included attending rigorous physical performance workshops at institutions like Odin Theatre and Xiqu (Chinese Chinese Opera).
In 2020, a significant move from Taiwan to Germany marked a new chapter for Po-Fu, shifting focus towards enriching the performing arts through multicultural exchanges. Since relocating, the artistic pursuits of Po-Fu have broadened, with a strong emphasis on cross-cultural performance research and the creation of multilingual projects. Contributions to the theatre scene by Po-Fu in Germany are substantial, showcasing works such as “Complicated Mandarin” (Berlin, Kassel, 2022), “Queer Dán Fantasy” (Berlin, Frankfurt, 2023), “How about Unkraut” (Berlin, Kassel, 2021), and “Ghosts of Landwehr Canal” (Berlin, 2023). Additionally, “NO MAN IS AN iSLAND” (Berlin, 2023, 2024) . Recently, Po-Fu has expanded his artistic repertoire by participating in the opera “Die Entführung aus dem Serail” at the Saarländisches Staatstheater. In this production, he performs in the speaking role of Bassa Selim, showcasing his talents from May to July 2024.
