Bio
Po-fu Wu (吳柏甫, b. 1985, Taiwan) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Kassel, Germany. Working across performance, video, installation, and sculpture, his practice explores migration, queer identity, care, and the relationship between individual bodies and their social and cultural environments.
Trained in theatre, Wu holds an MFA in Theatre from Taipei National University of the Arts. Before relocating to Germany in 2020, he worked extensively as a performer, director, and educator across Taiwan and other parts of Asia. His theatre background continues to inform his approach to the body, storytelling, and collective artistic production.
In Germany, his practice expanded beyond theatre through interdisciplinary and research-based projects. His participation in documenta fifteen (2022), where he worked as part of the installation team and contributed to artistic projects as a performer and Mandarin–English interpreter, marked an important turning point in his engagement with contemporary visual art.
Currently studying Fine Arts at Kunsthochschule Kassel, Wu continues to develop his practice across performance and visual art. His recent work Neigung zur Abgeschiedenheit (Publicly Alone) was presented at Rundgang 2026, with its single-channel version selected for the 43rd Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival.
