How about Unkraut- in Defense of Nature’s most Unloved Plants
Performing date: 5th of August, 2022 Performer: Po-fu Wu (Taiwan) Creator: Po-fu Wu / Yu-ching Huang (Taiwan) Choreographer : Yi-en Chen (Taiwan) Technical consultant : Jürgen Kolb Introduction: British author Richard Mabey, clarifies in his book “Weeds: In Defense of Nature's Most Unloved Plants”, that weeds are defined only by the way humans see them. What Plants do is only surviving, but under different cultural contexts, climates, eating habits and agricultural economic conditions, they have been given different values and names. Po-fu Wu, a Taiwanese artist living in Germany, has launched a series of creations with the theme of weeds. Through his texts and performances, he interweaves the discipline of culture and values on our nature body, the "removal" of bad behavior so that our social body can fit in the promising land. The reconstruction of the imaginary self shows how the body gradually forms a unique appearance from the constant adjustment between the hometown and the other place, just like the historical track created by the weeds in time. "How about Unkraut" premiered in Berlin in 2021. This time the How about Unkraut- in Defense of Nature’s most Unloved Plants in Kulturfenster (Kassel) focuses on the lecture performance that interact with the art installations.
